Privacy Policy
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Peaceful Co-Parenting LLC (“Peaceful Co-Parenting,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use our website, progressive web app and related services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
The Service is intended for users in the United States. We do not market it to, or offer it for use in, the European Union or the United Kingdom.
Law firm accounts, and clients whose accounts a law firm sponsors, are also covered by our Firm Privacy Notice, which controls if it conflicts with this policy.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account details: name, email address, phone number (if you add one), password or sign-in credentials and time zone.
- Co-parenting content you enter: chat messages, calendar events, visitation schedules, expense entries and receipts, documents and photos you upload (including profile pictures you add for your children or co-parent), notes, and updates or memories about your children.
- Child information: names and related details of children that a parent adds (see Section 7).
- Billing details: handled by our payment processor (see Section 3). We receive subscription status and limited billing metadata, but not your full card number.
- Messages you send us, such as support requests, feedback and bug reports.
- If you use the attorney access feature: the attorney’s or firm’s name, email and the case reference you or they provide.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage information such as browser type, app version, IP address and timestamps of activity.
- For parent accounts, and for law firm accounts at registration: approximate location (city, state and time zone) looked up from your IP address. We use this to set your time zone so times in the app are accurate.
- Push notification identifiers if you enable notifications.
- Security and audit logs, including records of when attorneys or firm members access shared data.
2. How we use information
- To provide and operate the Service, including messaging, scheduling, expense tracking, document storage and linking with your co-parent.
- To create court-ready PDF exports, including a cryptographic hash and a trusted timestamp that help show a document has not changed since it was created.
- To analyze message tone and suggest calmer wording, and to turn plain-language schedule requests into calendar entries (see Section 4).
- To send service emails, text messages and push notifications, such as reminders, security alerts, receipts and account notices.
- To process subscriptions and payments.
- To protect the Service, prevent abuse and fraud, troubleshoot problems and comply with legal obligations.
- To improve the Service and communicate with you about it.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content of your messages or documents for advertising.
3. Service providers we share information with
We share information only with providers that help us run the Service, and only as needed for their function:
- Google Firebase / Google Cloud: authentication, database, file storage and hosting of app data and archives.
- Stripe: subscription billing, checkout and customer portal. Stripe’s use of your data is governed by its own privacy policy.
- OpenAI: converts text you type into a visitation schedule. The text of that request is sent to OpenAI for processing.
- Sapling: analyzes the tone of chat messages so we can flag, and suggest rewording for, messages that may read as hostile. The message text is sent to Sapling for analysis.
- OneSignal: delivers push notifications.
- Resend: sends transactional emails on our behalf.
- Textbelt: sends text messages when you use SMS features.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: bot protection on sign-in and sign-up forms.
- FreeTSA (RFC 3161 time-stamping authority): receives only a cryptographic hash of an exported PDF, not the document itself, so a trusted timestamp can be issued.
- IPinfo: looks up approximate location and time zone from your IP address (parent accounts and firm registration).
- Google Maps Platform: suggests addresses and shows maps when you type an address, such as a handoff location or calendar event. The address text you type is sent to Google.
These providers are not permitted to use your information for their own marketing. We may also disclose information:
- To your linked co-parent, according to how you use the Service’s sharing and linking features.
- To attorneys or firms you choose to grant access to, and to a law firm that sponsors your account (see Section 6).
- When required by law, subpoena or court order, or to protect rights, safety and security.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, with notice where required.
4. Automated processing
Tone analysis and schedule parsing are automated. They produce suggestions only. You decide whether to send a message or accept a schedule. Output may be inaccurate, so please review it before relying on it.
5. Court-ready exports and document integrity
When you create an export, we generate a hash of the file and may request an RFC 3161 timestamp. We store a verification record so the file can be checked later. Those records may be kept in long-term archive storage even if the original data is later removed, so older exports can still be verified. Verification records contain hashes and metadata, not the content of your messages.
6. Attorney access
You may choose to give an attorney access to your information, including what you share with your linked co-parent (such as chat messages), both live and archived. Access is granted through a secure token, does not expire on its own, and can be revoked by you at any time. We keep an activity log of attorney access to your data. Attorneys and firms are independent of us and are responsible for how they handle information once they have it.
Likewise, if your co-parent gives an attorney access, that attorney can see what is shared between you and your co-parent, including your messages.
A law firm may also sponsor your account. Sponsored accounts work differently from the access you grant above: while a firm with an active plan sponsors you, the firm and its authorized users can view all of your activity and content in the application, whether or not you have shared it with anyone else, but not your password or payment details. That access ends if you switch to a personal plan or the firm removes you. The Firm Privacy Notice explains this in full and controls where it differs from this section.
7. Children's information
The Service is for adults (18 or older) and is not directed to children. Children cannot create accounts, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
Parents may enter information about their own children, such as names, photos, medical and school details and schedules. We treat that as information provided by the parent and use it only to provide the Service. We do not sell it, use it for advertising or send it to our AI providers. A parent can delete a child's information in the app, or email support@peaceful-coparenting.app and we will delete it. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Retention and deletion
You can delete your account in the app, which removes your profile, chats, calendar events, expenses, documents, uploaded files, archived records and notification settings. Messages tied to you in shared chat threads are removed as part of account deletion. Apart from children's information (Section 7), we do not process deletion requests sent by email.
Some information is also deleted automatically:
- Past calendar events: 14 days after the event date.
- Memories: 30 days after they are created.
- Child updates: 7 days after they are created, along with any attached file.
- In-app notifications: cleared every night.
- Unverified sign-ups and unaccepted firm client invitations: after 7 days.
- Canceled accounts: permanently deleted 180 days after cancellation, except accounts a law firm currently sponsors.
- Archived records (such as archived expenses, change requests, invitations, attorney access logs, document verification records and canceled firm accounts): 7 years after they are archived.
- Database backups: 30 days.
Some information may remain longer where we are required to keep it for legal, tax, security or fraud-prevention purposes.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted connections, access controls and bot protection. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and keep your credentials private.
10. Your choices and U.S. state privacy rights
You can view and update most account information in the app, turn off notifications in your device or app settings, and delete your account. Depending on your state (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to access, correct or delete it, to receive a copy, and to opt out of the sale or targeted advertising use of your data.
We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, email support@peaceful-coparenting.app. We may need to verify your identity and will respond within the time required by law. You may appeal a denial by replying to our response. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
11. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies, local storage and service worker caching that are necessary for sign-in, security and offline use of the app. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
12. Do Not Track
The Service does not currently respond to Do Not Track browser signals.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the app.
